Well, Christmas is quickly creeping up on us and I've noticed recently that people seem to be very preoccupied and "not really there" - a usual side-effect of this time of year. My husband and I call it the Silly Season.

All around the world, people are rushing around to attend end of year celebrations, festive get-togethers for work, school presentations and also trying to get the Christmas shopping done as well as catching up with friends & family. It's all too much, isn't it?

A little organisation goes a long way

This is the time of year that organised people really come into their own. The ultra-organised person will have their greeting cards posted, their meal planning done and their gifts wrapped and under the Christmas tree by Dec 1.

The organised person will have all of the above done by Dec 15.

The disorganised person will be purchasing gifts at the 7Eleven on the way to Grandma's house!

Which one are you?

Personally, I probably fit into the second category. Our November is choc full of birthdays, so I don't tend to go crazy about Christmas until the birthdays are done. But.....I do prepare some things. I prepare by getting a good portion of my shopping done (usually via online means) so I am not battling the shops.

We also start systematically cleaning/clearing out parts of the house - sorting the kids clothes; donating toys; decluttering, etc. I also start purchasing some of the Christmas food and put it away for the day - that way it isn't such a sting in your hip pocket!

Keep calm & .......

I think the posters are right....if you "Keep Calm & ......", it will come together. Plan & organise but do it in manageable lots. Schedule some time every day to get something done towards Christmas. It might be wrapping a gift; sourcing a gift for that "hard to buy for" Aunty or looking up a recipe for Christmas pudding.

Maintaining the calm will make the season more enjoyable for you and those around you. It will also ensure your safety and the safety of others.

And if you find that it is still all too much for you - take a look at our Christmas Organising Printables. They may just be your answer to calm.

Here's to an Organised Christmas!

What is it about birthdays before Christmas?!? We have that too, some in Nov and Dec! At least I'm already in gift shopping mode :)

Love the idea of scheduling some time in every day for something Christmas related Sam! I have a weekly plan, and then I like to add a little Christmas something that my kids can help me with during the week as well - it all adds to the Christmas cheer anyway!

Loving your blog!

Thanks Marissa!

Your beautiful comments always brighten my day :-)

We have birthdays before and after Christmas!! And that's just in our little family of four....weird how things turn out!

I said to my husband this morning actually that it's definately not a good time to be dieting! (lol!)

I love getting the kids to help out as well - they tend to do a lot of craft at this time of year, so we can add to our decorations with their Christmas artwork....I figure its also creating special memories for them (a big part of Christmas!)
